How You Can Make an Impact

Adopt-a-Meal

Our Adopt-a-Meal program was started in September of 2008 to help reduce the costs associated with the food, entertainment, decorations and supplies for Oncology Support Group nights. Since the number of families who attend Oncology Support Group has grown tremendously, the Children’s Cancer Center has been reaching out to local businesses for in-kind catering donations.

After chemotherapy, or long days at the hospital, many families cannot find the time nor money to provide a home-cooked meal for their family. After dinner, the parents go upstairs for a support meeting, while the children play and have planned activities with our volunteers. Oncology Support Group allows parents and caregivers to talk about their fears and stories of encouragement, as well as share laughter, tears, and smiles.

Through Adopt-a-Meal, the Children's Cancer Center is able to save approximately $24,000 per year. This money is desperately needed by families and to help grow our programs. Businesses who participate will receive an in-kind donation form, signed by our financial director, a photo collage of families eating your donation, as well as recognition on our website.

We'd like to thank the following businesses who have already participated in our Adopt-a-Meal program:

Astin Farms • Boston Market • Chick-fil-A International Mall • Ciccio & Tony’s • M-N-M BBQ
Pei Wei Asian Diner • Red Brick Pizza • Romano’s Macaroni Grill • TooJay’s Gourmet Deli

If your business or restaurant is interested in getting involved with Adopt-a-Meal, please contact Tyler Freriks at tfreriks@childrenscancercenter.org. Individual donors are also welcome!

Immediate Needs / In-Kind Donations

The Children's Cancer Center's immediate needs, whether it be for families, events or the staff's day-to-day operations, change almost daily and can be easily donated by the community. Please check this listing periodically to see how you can help, because it will change as our immediate needs change.

The following items are always in need, since families are constantly traveling to and from the hospital, clinic and hospice. The following items will also greatly reduce the costs for the Children's Cancer Center (CCC) associated with providing services to the families who need it most:

Gas Cards
Recommended: Shell

Gift Cards
Recommended for Families: Publix, Target, Visa, Toys R Us, Walmart
Recommended for CCC: Michael's, Party City, Sam's Club

The list of possibilities for in-kind donations is endless; therefore, we cannot list everything
that both the Children's Cancer Center and the families it serves would appreciate as a donation.
If you have an idea for a donation and are unsure of how it could benefit our organization,
please feel free to contact our staff at (813) 367-5437.

**Unfortunately, due to the fact that children with cancer are immune supressed, we strongly
suggest that items such as stuffed animals and toys that are not easily sanitized are not donated.

Leave A Legacy

With Planned Giving, you can support the Children's Cancer Center's efforts to aid children and families diagnosed with cancer and other blood related diseases in need, while also furthering your own tax, financial and estate planning goals.

Contributions can be in any amount you choose, in cash or a variety of other assets, immediate or deferred, during your lifetime or posthumously, through trusts, annuities, wills or pooled funds; whichever best suits your individual needs. Several options even provide an income stream to you or your beneficiaries for life.

For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Mary Ann Massolio, Executive Director, at mmassolio@childrenscancercenter.org.
