RULES

  1. Likes as of March 20th are 2400, so we need to get to 2830 likes or more by April 30th, 2012. In the event we do not achieve a total of 2830 total likes (which equals 430 new likes) by April 30th, 2012, no award will be given. Sorry. So let's make this work!
  2. Prize is a pair of single day one park Universal Studios Orlando tickets valid through May 2012. Wiinner must use the tickets in May prior to their expiry, as no extension is possible and we cannot re-issue tickets once expired.
  3. Winner will be chosen at random from our total 'Likes' and must be a current 'Like' as of 04-30-12 and must have posted, reposted or shared this promotion on their facebook page at least once between 03-23-12 and 04-30-12. If there is no evidence of having done so, we reserve the right to choose another winner as laid out above.
  4. No cash value. No substitutions.

2nd Annual Crazy Sombrero 5k and UR Crossfit Challenge

The 2nd annual Crazy Sombrero 5K and U R CrossFit Challenge takes place on May 4th, 2012, in Downtown Longleaf and throughout the Longleaf Community. Again this year our beneficiary is the Children's Cancer Center and we want to raise as much money for them as possible, so please join us as a participant, and spread the word to your friends and social networks by linking to this page!

FRI, May 4th (in celebration of Cince de Mayo!)
3pm to 6pm – Packet pickup
6:15pm – 1 mile walk begins
6:30pm – CrossFit Challenge begins
7:15pm – 5k run begins

1k Fun Walk
Individual: $5 pre-registered / $10 day of walk

5k Run
Individual: $15 pre-registered / $20 day of race
Family: $45 pre-registered / $60 day of race

U R CrossFit Challenge
Individual: $30 pre-registered (NO day of registrations)
Team: $60 pre-registered (NO day of registrations) 

EVENT DETAILS:

1k Fun Walk & 5k Run

  • 5k and 1k events are stroller and pet friendly!
  • Everyone is encouraged to wear / design their own sombrero – running in a sombrero is fun!
  • All participants must sign a waiver. DOWNLOAD MANDATORY WAIVER HERE, sign and bring with you.

U R CrossFit Challenge

  • Minimum age for CrossFit event is 18 or 15-17 years old with a parental consent.
  • All CrossFit event participants will have to sign a form stating they reviewed the standards video post on YouTube. Click here for the form. VISIT THIS PAGE AFTER APRIL 4th FOR A LINK TO THE MANDATORY VIDEO.
  • The U R CrossFit Challenge is high intensity. Teams and individuals will alternate between running and a pre-determined set of functional movements that vary after each round of running. Total distance will equal a 5K. Specific functional movements for the challenge will be announced a month out from the event.  A SPECIAL NOTE FOR TEAM CHALLENGERS: All teams must be co-ed, and athletes will be notified on the day of the race, which leg of the challenge they will be completing.
Awards
Awards will be provided to FIRST, SECOND and THIRD PLACE finishers of both the 5k and U R CrossFit, for both MALE and FEMALE and TEAM (U R Crossfit).
 
We will also award a FIRST, SECOND and THIRD PLACE for the best decorated sombrero! We will have a decorating station available where you can buy and decorate your sombrero!

After the race/walk: We invite you to stick around for great food, music, and fun for all ages.

T-Shirts
To keep all registration costs down, an event T-shrit is not included in the registration. This allows most of your registration dollars to go directly to the Children's Cancer Center.  Shirts ARE available for $20, however, and we know you'll just have to have one!  All shirts are dry-fit in the color gray.  The women's shirt is cut to fit a woman.  And this year, we have youth sizes available too!

Girls’ 6th Birthday Party raises hundreds for CCC

When soon-to-be six year olds – and BFFs – Sadie, Lexi and Madelyn decided to have a joint birthday party, they also decided to give back to other children who may not be as fortunate as themselves.

The three birthday girls decided that, in lieu of presents for themselves, they would ask that oarty guests bring something from the Children's Cancer Center 'Wish List' which includes toys, gift cards and games. Many of these items will be used for Love Bundles the Children's Cancer Center gives to newly diagnosed cancer patients when they are first hospitalized, providing a means to occupy their time during long hours of treatment.

The Children's Cancer Center would like to say 'Thank you' to these three wonderful young ladies for being so selflessly aware of others!

1st Grader raises $765 for the Center!

When young fashion-conscious first-grader Gianna heard that a fellow stuident in her school was battling childhood cancer, she decided she wanted to do something to help.

With Gianna's 7th birthday on the horizon, she decided to couple her love of fashion with her love of her fellow students and have a 'Fashionista' birthday party….and asked that in lieu of presents, all guests make a donation to the Children's Cancer Center.

She raised $765.00!

Gianna is a wonderful role model and we thank her – and all her birtdhay guests – for caring so much for their fellow students!

Laptop Xchange presents check for $1100

Wed, Jan 25th, new green electronics retailer Laptop Xchange presented the Children’s Cancer Center with a check for $1100, representing $550 donated by Laptop Xchange customers since their grand opening on Jan 14th, and matched by the store owners, Sarah Wilson and Lori Mize.

“Because our family has been affected by childhood cancer, we know how important it is to support programs that focus on the entire family,” said Sarah Wilson. ”We look forward to being able to continue to share with this amazing community.”
